Even in life, Scott Barns was the embodiment of evil to those who knew what kind of man he really was. He worked at a power plant where he became a victim of an industrial accident. As a result, his body sustained severe irreversible damage and his face was deformed. Scott blamed his colleagues and all the people that surrounded him for the accident. Over the years, Scott became completely consumed by hatred, which one night drove him to murder 13 plant workers. The perpetrator was arrested and executed, but his spirit transformed into a vengeful entity known as the Phantom.
