Torwin Edmund's origins remain unknown to this day. According to ancient legends, his race already existed before what is known as the Common Era. His people are described as merciless, bloodthirsty killers who don't feel any fear or have any weakness. Torwin and his kin are cursed: under the light of the moon, whether he desires so or not, he transforms into the Beast - a huge black wolf that stands on its two hind legs. In his beast form, he possesses superhuman strength, and his reflexes are dozens of times faster than those of humans. The Beast is considered to be a separate personality that is even more ruthless and aggressive than Torwin.
